Why Sugaring is Better Than Waxing

Posted by boomer in Beauty

Waxing and Sugaring are closely related methods of hair removal. Both of these hair removal methods have been used for centuries by both men and women to remove unwanted hair. Sugaring has a history of use going back thousands of years in the Middle East.

Sugaring

Sugaring is a process that uses a heated gum that is made from sugar, lemon juice, and water as a removal agent for unwanted hair. Sugaring ingredients and associated equipment are low cost, environmentally friendly and readily available which is important for those looking for a homemade formula. Because the method of operation is similar to conventional waxing, sugaring is often referred to as sugar waxing even though there is no wax involved.

Although the sugar wax adheres strongly to hair it does not adhere to the skin as strongly as normal wax. Women who have used both methods at the same time say that the sugaring method is much less painful. It results in less soreness and tender skin than waxing so people with sensitive skin often prefer this method.

One advantage of sugaring is that is is cleaned up very easy as the sugar dissolves in water. Any excess can be stored for reuse or eaten! It is simply a type of sugar candy.

Waxing

The waxing process involves heating a wax mixture which is then applied to the unwanted hair. You can purchase wax from various retail stores for between twenty and thirty dollars. Some stores offer it as part of a kit that includes everything else you need.

The method of applying the wax and removing unwanted hair is the same as for sugaring. The warm wax tends to stick to to skin as well as hair so the removal process is more painful and temporarily leaves red marks and bumps.

Wax is a bit messier in that it is harder to clean up after yourself once you are finished.

Both Methods

The actual hair removal process is similar with both methods leading to similar results. When the hair regrows there is less of it and it is softer and silkier. This avoids problems like cuts, nicks, coarse stubble or ingrown hair caused by shaving.

Waxing and sugaring are simple hair remover processes that anyone can perform in the privacy of their home but there are beauty salons that also provide these services.
